چکیده

Abstract Fourteen alloys of the FeCoNiAl x Mn system were processed by laser metal deposition (LMD). The feedstock was a weighted and proportional blend containing elemental powders, targeting nominal alloy compositions. Prior to processing, composition particle characteristics assessed. microstructural features crystal structures all LMD materials characterized with scanning electron microscopy/energy dispersive spectroscopy x-ray diffraction, in both as-received heat-treated conditions. Selected samples investigated via transmission microscopy backscattered diffraction for further structural understanding. Hardness tests, under various indentation loads dwelling times, performed assess mechanical properties samples. results showed rise hardness as Al contents increase. variation follows reverse sigma-type curve, reflecting evolution grain size variations alloys. Based on data, we suggest trained validated predictive model, which can be used design future developments.

Complex metallic alloys as new materials for additive manufacturing

Additive manufacturing processes allow freeform fabrication of the physical representation of a three-dimensional computer-aided design (CAD) data model. This area has been expanding rapidly over the last 20 years. It includes several techniques such as selective laser sintering and stereolithography. The range of materials used today is quite restricted while there is a real demand for manufac...

Printability of alloys for additive manufacturing

Although additive manufacturing (AM), or three dimensional (3D) printing, provides significant advantages over existing manufacturing techniques, metallic parts produced by AM are susceptible to distortion, lack of fusion defects and compositional changes. Here we show that the printability, or the ability of an alloy to avoid these defects, can be examined by developing and testing appropriate...

Developing Gradient Metal Alloys through Radial Deposition Additive Manufacturing

Interest in additive manufacturing (AM) has dramatically expanded in the last several years, owing to the paradigm shift that the process provides over conventional manufacturing. Although the vast majority of recent work in AM has focused on three-dimensional printing in polymers, AM techniques for fabricating metal alloys have been available for more than a decade. Here, laser deposition (LD)...

Internal Friction in Concentrated Alloys

Internal friction in concentrated alloys at kHz frequencies and at temperatures from 120 3 0 0 K has been studied in alpha-and beta-brasses as a function of grain size, temperature and pre-strain, and a statistical model has been proposed to account for the observations.
